  1. Susan, your paper on the development of workplace environment and the treatment of employees was interesting. I wonder at what stage in history "professional development" training came to be. It's interesting that some training could even play into both schools of thought around employee treatment. For example, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a common employer sponsored training. This training would make an employee feel valued and empowered. Ultimately, it is also to make them as efficient as possible.

The psychology of how this all ties together is fascinating!
    Well done.

  2. Susan,

This is a good review of the development of management theories. Check the following requirement in the syllabus. Your paper needs more information relevant to the following requirements. Currently you mainly reviewed the history of management theories and management theorists, and you did not cover the detailed information about HRD educators and others listed below. Even though you have Highlights and Influential factors, but the contents in both parts are also the history of the management theories.

    (3) Highlights: What were the trends, main issues, the focus and/or the significant events of adult education during this period of time?

    (4) Influential factors: List the main adult/community educators, programs, organizations; and main social events that occurred in this period of time which influenced the development of adult education.

A quote from Mayo summarizes it best, so long as commerce specializes in business methods which take no account of human nature and social motives, so long may we expect strikes and sabotage to be the ordinary accompaniment of industry. -Elton Mayo, 1920.
